Visual Web Solutions (North Brunswick, N.J.) unveiled BALI, an electronic banking application that facilitates the online initiation of corporate and correspondent banking transactions. With BALI, customers can transfer money worldwide to or from any bank account in a secure and affordable way. BALI also offers transaction initiation facilities for trade finance and custodial services. Customers can access multiple products via a single screen and initiate transactions, remit payments, and check their statements and reports online and even ensure that proper authorization and administration controls are in place.

Risk Management

Oracle (Redwood Shores, Calif.) previewed Regulatory Capital Manager, a set of risk management tools designed to help financial services providers comply with Basel II. Regulatory Capital Manager allows financial institutions to analyze, edit and review calculations and data to pursue a regulatory capital strategy and provides out-of-the-box reports that let institutions view key regulatory capital data and meet mandatory external reporting requirements.

Payments

LogicaCMG (London) launched the LogicaCMG Euro Banking Association Connection product (LEC), which is designed to help European financial institutions meet the challenges of cross-border payments. LEC, part of LogicaCMG's Messaging Connectivity Suite, is an end-to-end solution for euro payments that can be used as a direct connector to the STEP2 automated clearing house or delivered as a bureau service, which financial institutions can use to collate payments for their customers.

Check Processing

Deutsche Bank (Berlin) augmented its existing suite of payment and collection products, launching db-cheque, a European multicurrency, multilocal format draft issuance service that complements existing offerings in the U.S. and Asia. In addition, the bank will offer a range of check and item processing options to prepare clients for Check 21.

Compliance

TEMENOS Group (Geneva) and TLC Consulting (London) partnered to offer TEMENOS T24 customers credit risk banking solutions that are compliant with Basel II. Banks will be able to extract transactional and historical data directly from the TEMENOS T24 system through an interface supported by TEMENOS. The data will be imported into TLC's Barracuda software, which calculates current exposure and Risk Weighted Assets for the Standardized, Foundation or Advanced approaches to Basel II.

Settlement

Fundtech (Jersey City, N.J.) introduced a CLS managed service available to all settlement members. Fundtech's PAYplus for CLS offers integration of third-party services and liquidity management features. Fundtech will operate its CLS ASP from a high-security facility in Europe with full redundancy, auto notification and alerting, and scheduled proactive maintenance.

Messaging

SWIFT (Brussels) announced that fund industry players can now use SWIFTNet Funds for live operations related to order processing, price reporting and cash flow reporting. This is the first stage of SWIFT's initiative to support funds processing automation. The launch follows successful pilot testing of all solution components.

Monitoring

City Networks (London) launched CityNet Inform, a monitoring and alert notification system for financial institutions. CityNet Inform allows a firm to set predefined rules, aligned to its key performance indicators (KPIs), which will enable an automatic alert to be generated on screen. Alert conditions range from business targets to operational requirements. Triggered alerts can be sent to an individual or group for investigation or action.
