U.S. Bank Enables Secure Online Child Support Payments in Nebraska

Parents can now make online payments to the Nebraska Child Support Payment Center via SVP.

Noncustodial parents in Nebraska can now make child support payments online without sharing their bank account information with the state. That's because in the first implementation of its kind, U.S. Bank has added the ability to make Secure Vault Payments (SVP) to the Nebraska Child Support Payment Center.

Parents making a child support payments can now initiate the transaction at the Nebraska Child Support Center's website and choose the SVP option to make a payment electronically through their bank account. The payment is secured, verified and processed within one business day, which helps avoid late payments due to insufficient funds or stop-pay notices on checks.

There are no convenience fees for choosing this this option, but the bank account used must be an SVP-enabled account. SVP was developed by the Electronic Payments Association to reduce paper checks and increase use of the Automated Clearing House Network.

"U.S. Bank is committed to providing organizations with innovative solutions to increase the efficiency of their payment collection and to enhance their payers' experience," said Eric Lim, vice president and senior product manager for U.S. Bank Treasury Management, in a statement. "U.S. Bank was the first top-ten bank to offer SVP. We believe Secure Vault Payments provides compelling benefits as an online consumer payment option for many industries including government, higher education and nonprofit organizations."
