Sybase Debuts Mobile Platform

Servers, software and services to help banks and other companies deliver and manage enterprise mobile applications.

Sybase has rolled out a Mobility Platform, a framework of servers, applications and services designed to help companies deliver mobile software to customers and employees.

Sybase 365, the mobile arm of Sybase, already works with Citi and BBVA Compass to develop the mobile banking and payments solutions they offer their customers.

Banks historically have found managing mobile applications that run across multiple devices — BlackBerrys, Android phones, iPhones and now iPads — and meeting compliance requirements therein to be a challenge, and some have steered clear of giving employees newer devices and features such as text messaging for this reason. A full-featured platform for mobile IT could help them cope. On the other hand, banks also sometimes talk about wanting a unified platform for managing applications across multiple channels — website, mobile phones, social media, etc.

The platform Sybase introduced today includes Sybase mobile servers, including Sybase Unwired platform development, Sybase Afaria Device Management Suite, Sybase iAnywhere Mobile Office and SQL Anywhere; mobile applications, including Sybase Mobile Sales for SAP CRM, Sybase Mobile Workflow for SAP Business Suite and Sybase mBanking 365; and Sybase Mobile Services – mCommerce Services for developed and emerging markets, Enterprise Services for mobile marketing and mobile CRM; and Operator Services.
