PayPal Hires Former Visa Executive

Scott Thompson, president of San Jose, Calif.-based online payments provider PayPal, recently announced on his blog that Rupert Keeley will join the company to run its business in the Asia Pacific market.

"Rupert will drive our aggressive regional growth strategy, attract and develop great talent for our company, and enhance our relationships with key customers and partners across the region," wrote Thompson in his blog. He also noted that PayPal's Asia Pacific business is growing faster than any other in the world.

Keeley brings to PayPal more than 30 years of experience in the payments space. Most recently, he held various executive positions at San Francisco-based Visa. Before joining Visa in 1999, he held several positions at Standard Chartered PLC, an international bank based in London.
