WSFS Bank Names New CTO
WSFS Financial Corporation, the parent company of WSFS Bank, has announced that it has named S. James Mazarakis executive vice president and chief technology officer. Previously he had been serving as interim CTO since May 2009. Effective February 1, 2010, Mazarakis joined the executive management team in an official capacity leading the Technology and Operations Division of WSFS Bank.
"We are thrilled that Jim has accepted the CTO position. His depth and breadth will add tremendous value to WSFS," said Mark A. Turner, WSFS president and chief executive officer, in a statement.
Mazarakis came to WSFS with nearly 30 years of experience in banking, investment management and brokerage services. He served on senior leadership teams, both as CIO of T. Rowe Price, and managing director and divisional CIO at J.P. Morgan Investment Asset Management. He also worked on large scale international projects and merger and acquisition teams at Capital One Financial and Goldman Sachs. Mazarakis has led organizations as large as 1,080 people and managed budgets exceeding $240 million.
Mazarakis graduated with a Bachelor of Science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a Master of Science degree in Management of Technology from Polytechnic Institute of New York University. He is frequently quoted in technology publications and was recognized in 2007 by Information Week as a Top 10 Innovator for his work at T. Rowe Price.
Mazarakis is the vice chairman of the Maryland/DC Audubon Society and serves on the Technology Advisory Board of the United Way of Central Maryland.
