Former Goldman CTO Dubno to Join BofA

Former Goldman CTO and founder of Gadgetoff to join the bank's new team.

On the heels of the executive team changes CEO Brian Moynihan announced earlier this week at Bank of America, Bank Systems & Technology has learned the bank has one more A-list executive recruit waiting in the wings: Michael Dubno, former CTO of Goldman Sachs and designer of its risk management architecture. Dubno will start Tuesday, January 19 as head of global markets and research technology, according to an internal memo from Jim Kelly, head of global banking, markets and wealth management technology and operations.

"Dubno brings a rich history of technology experience to the bank, including 20 years at Goldman Sachs," the memo states. "He began at Goldman in 1985 as a consultant programmer and rose to become the firm's Chief Technology Officer, a position he held from 2002 until 2005."

While at Goldman, Dubno led a team that designed the architecture for the risk management system for all of the firm's businesses. According to the BofA memo, he also pioneered the use of the Internet at the firm and led the creation of Goldman's first client-facing website, the GS Financial Workbench.

"Michael is a terrific leader of technology teams and has a rare talent for harnessing technology to turn great ideas into reality," said Tom Montag, head of Global Banking and Markets, in the memo.

In 2008, Dubno joined Cerebellum Capital as Chief Investment Officer where he assisted in the creation of a quantitative hedge fund.

Dubno is a native New Yorker who attended The Bronx High School of Science. In 2002, he founded Gadgetoff, an organization that brings leading innovators, inventors and entrepreneurs together in an annual event that combines fun with a serious discussion of business and the future. He continues to be active with the group.

Since 2004 Dubno has been New York City Chairman of FIRST, a U.S.-based organization that inspires and engages students in the studies of science and technology.
