Barclays Appoints Shaygan Kheradpir As Chief Operations and Technology Officer
Barclays named Shaygan Kheradpir as its new chief operations and technology officer today, according to a statement released by the bank. Kheradpir is to take up his new role immediately and will join the bank’s executive committee while reporting directly to the bank’s group chief executive Anthony Jenkins, the statement said. In his new role he will be in charge of the bank’s technology agenda and will take over the operations that support the bank’s product and service delivery.
Kheradpir previously worked for Verizon before joining Barclays in Januray of 2011, the statement said, when he took up the role of chief operating officer for retail and business banking. Since joining Barclays he has been involved in the development of Barclays Pingit mobile payments app, the introduction of iPads for the bank’s front line staff and staff restructuring that aimed to improve communication between the technical and business sides of the bank’s operations department, according to published reports.
As part of his new role Kheradpir will be taking on some of the responsibilities formerly held by Jerry del Missier, Barclays former COO who resigned after the Libor scandal last year.
