Misys to Deliver Banking Apps on Microsoft's Cloud

Core banking, other apps to be delivered on-demand via Azure.

Microsoft and Misys announced an alliance today at SIBOS through which Misys will deliver banking software over the Windows Azure cloud platform. "This solution shifts the burden of IT management to the cloud," said Steve Ballmer, chief executive officer of Microsoft. "I see this as a transformative step for the financial services industry."

Ballmer noted that while usually banking applications require complex data center and support structures that are expensive to operate, cloud computing offers an on-demand model.

Misys and Microsoft have already deployed instances of the Misys BankFusion Universal Banking solution to the Windows Azure platform.

Microsoft says many financial institutions already run Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft Office and Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online solutions over its Azure cloud offering.
