Bank of New Zealand to Install Videoconferencing in All Branches
Bank of New Zealand has undertaken a review of its entire network of 179 branches and plans to refurbish and relocate many over the next two years.
The new branch "stores" will feature circular teller desks, an interactive product and service wall and digital signage. Some stores will have a kids' zone with flat screen televisions. All the stores will provide videoconferencing facilities to link small business customers with specialists. The bank is also considering offering free internet access, free wifi and interactive touchscreens to branch customers.
The branches will be fitted with new security technologies such as closed-circuit televisions and a system that sprays thieves with a solution that turns blue under ultraviolet light. They will be remodeled with energy efficient lighting, low-odor paint, recycled carpet and sustainable timber.
The bank says that for each refurbishment, 20 to 30 people will work on the project for eight to 16 weeks, and that all told, 2,750 people will be employed on the project.
