Sybase Acquires Complex Event Processing Vendor Aleri

Database vendor, which was already using Aleri's software under the hood of its RAP product, can now take product integration further.

Database and analytics software provider Sybase announced today that it has finalized an agreement to purchase Aleri, a provider of complex event processing technology that made several wins in the financial industry last year. For example, in November Swedbank publicly said it's using Aleri software to manage liquidity risk.

Sybase's RAP product is a high-speed column-based database and analytics product that already uses one of Aleri's complex event processing software platforms (the Coral8 Engine technology that Aleri acquired last year) under the hood.

The combination of these technologies can be used to monitor very fast moving data to detect fraud, analyze risk, and make other types of business decisions.

The terms of the transaction are not being disclosed and Sybase does not expect the transaction to have a material impact on 2010 financial results.
