Temenos Acquisition Adds New Front-End Software to Its Core Offerings
Temenos Group AG, a core banking software provider, extended its offerings for financial institutions to include new advanced front-end systems by acquiring edge IPK, a user experience platform software provider for financial services players. edge IPK's software helps banks provide a consistent user experience for customers across channels.
edge IPK has received positive attention for its UPX product edgeConnect, which was recognized by Gartner, a technology research firm, as a "cool" online computing tool. Gartner cited some edgeConnect customers as saying that the product helped deliver applications "up to five times as as quickly, with a fraction of the resources," according to a statement by Temenos announcing the acquisition. edgeConnect (which is used by Deutshe Bank, Zurich and Allianz, among others) includes an integrated development environment and runtime for applications to be deployed across all banking channels. It also speeds up delivery of those applications by allowing web designers to test user experience pages and forms separately from developers and architects.
Temenos said in the statement that the acquisition will help them compete in the market for front-end financial services applications. The company will now be able to provide a common UI across all of its products, an enhance user experience for customer channels and new functionality, such as online customer acquisition.
