M-Com Offers Hosted Mobile Banking for Fiserv Customers
M-Com, a longstanding partner with Fiserv for mobile banking software, announced today that it can host mobile banking for Fiserv customers as an application service provider. The service is said to plug easily into Fiserv's core banking software. It's geared primarily toward community banks and credit unions, although Serge van Dam, head of marketing, says one top 100 bank is using it.
M-Com provides text messaging and browser-based mobile banking for touch screen phones, flip phones and BlackBerrys. By the end of the year it plans to add an iPhone application to the hosted offering (it already supports the iPhone with its software).
To secure mobile banking apps, M-Com makes sure no customer data is stored on the device. It provides a customer care tool that enables bank staff to suspend mobile service immediately if a customer reports a device stolen. (This tool also walks the customer through various aspects of using mobile banking.) M-Com also monitors transactions for signs of fraud and can provide IT support for mobile banking users, a growing need for banks as mobile banking continues its trajectory.
