InformationWeek Reviews Apple iPad
Since Apple's April 3 release of the iPad, one thing is certain: it's a popular device. But is Steve Jobs' latest exploration in disruptive technology ready for adoption as a mobile business tool?
Not quite yet, according to InformationWeek's iPad review.
Despite the iPad's strengths when it comes to fun and media consumption, it hardly surpasses netbooks in terms of its ability to help professionals do their jobs out in the field.
In short, InformationWeek gives the iPad high marks for content consumption, Web browsing and its improved (though still flawed) e-mail interface. While typing speeds are reduced on the iPad's touch keyboard, the ease of connecting a Bluetooth keyboard can help overcome this. Although the iPad lacks Flash support, sites like Gmail, developed in HTML5, easily compensate.
Where the iPad comes up short, InformationWeek says, is in cloud support and multitasking.
