Fifth Third Announces New Mobile Features
Cincinnati-based Fifth Third Bank this week rolled out several upgraded mobile banking features, including one that allows customers to access their account balances without logging into.
Now Balance securely links the Fifth Third app to the saved user ID, the bank said. To activate the service, customers are required to log in and select "Now Balance" in the preferences menu, and then toggle to "on" and then choose the accounts to make viewable. The customer can turn it off at any time within the app, according to the bank. In addition, regular "traditional" logins are required to maintain the service.
In addition to this new feature, Fifth Third said it also recently updated its mobile app with improved navigation, up to six months of transaction history, full descriptions of transaction detail and the ability to search transactions using merchant names or key words.
"Since introducing mobile banking five years ago we have made significant enhancements to reflect the ways in which consumers prefer and expect to interact with us," said Larry McClanahan, vice president and director of Digital Delivery for Fifth Third Bank, in a statement. "The number one reason customers use our mobile app is to check their balances and we're pleased to help make this inquiry as quick and convenient as possible."
