Citi Introduces Facebook Rewards App

The new application allows Citi ThankYou Rewards members to pool and share their earned points via Facebook.

Citi is making participation in its rewards and loyalty program a social experience with its new ThankYou Point Sharing application for Facebook. With the new app, Citi customers who are on Facebook can pool and share the points they've earned to receive collective rewards or make a charitable donations.

To take advantage of the new app, current Citi ThankYou Rewards members must visit the Citibank Facebook page, click on the ThankYou Point Sharing tab and enter their account login information. That will link the Facebook app to the rewards account, allowing the member to start a pool of points for a group, cause or individual and invite any number of Facebook friends who also have the app to join the pool. Members can set a goal or highlight a desired item from the ThankYou catalog and track progress toward that goal or prize.

"As our ThankYou members imagine all the ways to use their points this year, this app extends the possibilities," said Ralph Andretta, head of co-brands and loyalty at Citi Cards, in a release announcing the program. "With the new ability to pool points together through their social networks, ThankYou members can rally their friends towards a bigger reward -- whether they are interested in combining points to book a weekend getaway or supporting a common cause."

Citi is giving 2,500 ThankYou points to the first 4,000 members to sign up for the ThankYou Point Sharing app before Feb. 3.
