Chase Brings Mobile Receipt Capture to Small Business Card Holders

Chase’s Ink card holders will now be able to photograph and store receipts with Chase’s Jot app for small business customers.

Small business card holders using Chase’s Ink card will now be able to capture and store receipts using the camera on their mobile device, Chase announced yesterday. The new capture capability has been integrated into Chase’s Jot mobile app for Ink card holders, and will allow users to attach photographs of receipts to specific purchases, according to published reports. Card holders can then download the electronic receipts online and print them or download them into accounting software like Excel or QuickBooks, the reports said.

The Jot app, which is available on iPhone and Android mobile devices, sends users a push alert when customers make a purchase with their Ink card. The user can then go into the app and take a photo of the receipt to attach to the purchase and categorize it.

More than half of Jot users use the smartphone app, Richard Quigley, president of Ink from Chase, was quoted as saying in media reports. With the receipt capture feature small business owners won’t have to spend as much time reconciling their paper receipts, a time-consuming and error-prone task, Quigley added. In addition to the receipt capture feature the Jot mobile app includes the ability to view all purchases, including those made by employees, on the go, and can adjust spending limits for their employees via the app.
