The rising volume of data has increased the cost burden for financial institutions to store that data on the network. IBM Scale Out File Services (SOFS) provides a scalable solution to network storage. Using Network Attached Storage (NAS), financial institutions can choose how they scale the storage solution. For example, an institution can scale capacity separately from performance. The solution enables firms to take islands of storage and connect them together, leveraging communication and bandwidth but still enabling each island to prioritize its throughput, tweak performance, and execute locally, says Hans Ammitzboll -Storage Services Specialist at IBM.
