Weaving an Integrated Infrastructure
Kreditkort (Reykjavik), Iceland's principal MasterCard member, selected Fairfax, Va.-based webMethods' Fabric, a business integration and optimization solution, to integrate Kreditkort's various credit card management systems and provide the foundation for a service-oriented architecture (SOA). "WebMethods was chosen because of the short learning curve for its products," said Bergthora Ketilsdottir, general manager, IT division, Kreditkort, in a statement.
"WebMethods' integration infrastructure enables us to make a smooth transition between our old and new card management systems, to which all banks in Iceland are connected," he added. In addition, Kreditkort will be capable of optimizing key business processes, such as settlements among banks. "We will also be able to deploy Web services, supported by a strong SOA, and, therefore, optimize our use of technology standards," claimed Ketilsdottir.
"The webMethods' platform will allow maximum use of existing IT investments while accelerating [Kreditkort's] ability to strengthen the corporate IT role as a business enabler, providing them with the leverage needed to meet market demands," said Bjarni Birgisson, CTO, Kogun (Reykjavik), a webMethods partner and provider of consultation and implementation services for enterprise application integration in Iceland.
