Umpqua Hires New CIO
Umpqua Holdings Corp., the parent of Portland, Ore.-based Umpqua Bank ($8.3 billion in assets), has appointed Colin Eccles its new chief information officer. In this role, Eccles will ensure that technology is incorporated into the bank's culture and will help continue the bank's innovative delivery of products and services. He replaces Roger Bishop, who left the company for personal reasons.
Eccles reports directly to CEO Ray Davis and will be responsible for technology enhancement of all bank channels and back end systems, including network services, data processing, item processing, information systems, electronic banking and ATM delivery.
Eccles is a 28-year banking and IT veteran. He spent the last seven years working at Washington Mutual as CIO for the company's retail bank technology organization. While at Washington Mutual, was responsible for all technical support of retail delivery channels, transaction processing and technical business operations.
"We are very excited to have found Colin Eccles," Lani Hayward, a spokesperson for the bank, told BS&T. "I think his background speaks for itself and it's in the right vein of where we want to be headed."
