The Robotic Tour Guides of Santander Financial City
Helpful robots and fully interactive video walls used to be the stuff of science fiction. But for those who happen to visit Santander Group's Spanish visitor center, that kind of technology becomes somewhat more tangible.
Numerous interactive features and robot tour guides greet those who visit El Faro - or lighthouse - Visitors' Center at the Santander Financial City, a 395-acre financial complex located in Boadilla del Monte, Spain.
In developing the feature for Santander Group, interactive technology provider YDreams utilized WiFi-controlled, multilingual, knee-high robots as guides, taking visitors through a tour of interactive features meant to educate them about the Spanish banking group's history, global presence, money markets, values and Santander Financial City itself. A touch screen control panel allows users to select their language and destination, and various features such as interactive LED-panels add to the technological flourishes.
The video below gives a sense of what Santander and YDreams developed to impress visitors.
