Sun National SVP Valletta Adds CIO to His Role
Angelo J. Valletta, Vineland, N.J.-based Sun National Bank's new chief information officer, returns calls in a New York minute. Befitting a technologist, his voice mails are instantly forwarded to him as e-mails, he explains. "It's great — if I'm out anywhere, the message pops up not only on my PC but also on my handheld," he says.
Valletta, who has been with Sun ($3.5 billion in assets ) for three years, remains senior vice president, but moves from director of information technology to CIO.
The main addition to his responsibilities, Valletta relates, is oversight of the ATM network and technology on the wholesale side of the bank, which includes credit-card transaction processing. That's on top of his previous purview: core processing and distributed applications — both for branch customers and for employees.
Valletta holds an MBA from Philadelphia University and spent most of his 25-year career in the City of Brotherly Love, where he has worked in insurance, banking and consulting. Although Valletta is excited by the challenge of his new role, he admits that some day he'd love to work in New York City. After all, he's already on New York time.
