Sharon Tan Joins HSBC Singapore’s Trade Division
As part of HSBC's growth plan for the Asia Pacific region, the London-based bank hired Sharon Tan for the newly created position of senior vice president of structured trade finance, trade and supply chain. Tan, who will be based in Singapore, has more than 15 years of banking experience, including significant expertise in commodity-based financing.
Tan will develop HSBC's structured trade finance business in Singapore and across the Asia Pacific. She will report to Michael Lim, head of structured trade finance, Asia Pacific, in her regional role, and to Jonathan Speight, head of trade and supply chain, at HSBC Singapore.
"Sharon's proven track record of strong revenue growth and experience in a range of commodities will be invaluable in contributing to the further expansion of the bank's trade and supply chain business in Singapore and the region," Speight said in a statement announcing her hire.
Tan previously held a key sales position with London-based Standard Chartered Bank, where she successfully closed a number of structured trade finance deals.
