Manuel Medina-Mora to Head Citi's Consumer Banking
Citi appointed Manuel Medina-Mora CEO of consumer banking for the Americas. While Medina-Mora will maintain his role as chairman and CEO of Citi Latin America and Mexico, in his new role he will oversee New York-based Citi's retail branch network, the company's branded cards business and its local commercial bank in the Americas. He also will serve as chairman of the bank's newly formed Global Consumer Council with responsibility for Citi's global consumer strategy. Medina-Mora continues to report to Citi CEO Vikram Pandit.
In a release Pandit said, "We are now focused on developing our client franchise in our core businesses. Under Manuel's leadership, we will build on the progress we have made and execute our consumer strategy across our global consumer [bank]."
Prior to assuming the position of chairman and CEO of Citi Latin America and Mexico in 2004, Medina-Mora was CEO of Banamex, a part of Citigroup that provides banking services to to companies and individuals that do business in Mexico and the United States.
