Innovative CIOs 2007: Rideout Keeps ING Direct's Eyes on the Future

Since she was named one of Banking's Most Innovative CIOs in 2007, ING Direct CIO Brenda Rideout has assumed additional responsibilities within the Toronto-based company. Beyond her duties as CIO, Rideout now is responsible for corporate real estate and facilities, as well as for business operations, project management and quality.

Despite such a full plate, Rideout also leads ING Direct's initiatives around innovation, an area in which the bank is likely to be busy in the coming year. In conjunction with process reengineering and automation, "We're focusing on innovation -- not just from an automation standpoint, but from a process standpoint and from a product standpoint," Rideout reports. "ING has always been very innovative. It's part of our DNA, and we're going to continue to cultivate that culture."
