Huntington Bank Creates New Corporate Development Director to Lead M&A Strategies
Huntington Bank (Columbus, Ohio) named Scott Brewer, formerly managing director in the financial institutions group at Stifel, Nicolaus & Company, Inc. (Cleveland), as corporate development director. In this newly created role, Brewer will lead merger and acquisition strategies and activities. He will report to Huntington's CFO Don Kimble.
Brewer will be responsible for implementing merger-and-acquisition strategy for Huntington, including the identification, modeling and completion of acquisition plans. He also will lead efforts to identify value in the marketplace and maximize that value through strategic sourcing of deals, expeditious due diligence and effective execution of transactions, according to a company statement.
"Huntington has turned the corner in this challenging economy and is now in the position to be an acquirer," said Brewer, in a press release. "I believe this is the perfect time to join such a dynamic institution and play an instrumental role in helping to build its successful future."
At Stifel Brewer led the firm's insurance investment banking effort. Previously, he was group head and managing director for the financial institutions group with KeyBanc Capital Markets. Brewer came to Key from Morgan Stanley & Co., where he was primarily focused on executing merger-and-acquisition advisory and capital-raising mandates for banking sector clients.
Joining Brewer will be Bryce Myers, who also comes from Stifel, where he focused primarily on advisory assignments in the financial institutions group.
