San Francisco-based Union Bank of California (UBOC) signed a technology services agreemet with integrated technology operations company iGATE.

As part of the arrangement, iGATE has initially establsihed a 100-person operation technology center for the bank at its software development campus in Whitefield, Bangalore. iGATE is currently providing a full range of it services spanning application development and maintenance, infrastructure management services, data warehousing, quality assurance, business intelligence, consulting and technology work for Basel II compliance.

"We were looking at opportunities to re-engineer our processes and alter our customer-facing and the core back-office processing tasks. As iGATE clearly understands technology and operations and are the only one in India with integrated Technology and Operations capabilities, we found a lot of synergy and decided to work with them," said James Yee, EVP and CIO with Union Bank of California.
