Curtin to Head SWIFT’s Americas Securities Initiatives

Patrick Curtin has been named head of securities initiatives for the Americas at global financial messaging organization SWIFT (Brussels; New York). Curtin will report to Chris Church, chief executive of the Americas and global head of securities, and will be a member of the Americas Management Team.

In his new role, Curtin will help expand SWIFT's securities business in the Americas region and partner with key clients on securities-related projects and initiatives. He will be charged with ensuring SWIFT continues to demonstrate leadership in the sector, supporting straight-through processing throughout the trade cycle. Curtin will also collaborate with industry bodies and securities market infrastructures, where he will build on the cooperative's shared infrastructure and community to develop new offerings to improve operational efficiencies and reduce costs for the industry. Additionally, he will work with the Securities Steering Committee of the SWIFT Board of Directors and the SWIFT Markets Group to ensure that key drivers for the Americas help shape the global securities strategy.

Prior to joining SWIFT, Curtin spent 12 years at The Bank of New York Mellon as EVP, global securities services, where he oversaw the firm's global custody, clearance, securities lending, foreign exchange, cash management and agency securities execution businesses.
