BAFT Names Donna Alexander Managing Director
The Bankers' Association for Finance and Trade (Washington, D.C.) has appointed Donna Alexander as managing director. Alexander will assume responsibility for directing BAFT's day-to-day operations and will also oversee the implementation of its new strategic initiative.
BAFT is currently undergoing a transformation from a U.S.-centric advocacy model with international membership to a global representative of the banking industry. The new structure includes regional councils in Africa, Asia, and Europe, with additional councils forming in the Middle East/ North Africa and Latin America. These regional councils offer a unified international voice while ensuring that BAFT is able to respond to regional changes.
"Ms. Alexander will be a strong addition to the BAFT team as we continue our efforts to support the industry and expand opportunities for the global payments and trade community," said BAFT Chairman Chuck Silverman, managing director, global financial institutions and trade division for Wachovia Bank NA.
