Bank Leumi Taps Citi Exec

Bank Leumi USA (New York) appointed Sidney Gottesman as EVP and COO. He will be responsible for all bank operations and IT. Gottesman most recently served as senior technology officer for Citigroup's (New York) commercial business group's banking and real estate divisions.

Fairfield Hires Berta

Fairfield County Bank (Ridgefield, Conn.) hired Daniel Berta as EVP, retail banking and strategic planning. Previously, Berta was an SVP and retail market manager for JPMorgan Chase (New York).

Cartwright Joins ANZ

Australian banking group ANZ (Melbourne) appointed David Cartwright as group managing director, operations, technology and shared services. Cartwright most recently was CEO at Intelligent Processing Solutions (Northampton, U.K.), a joint U.K. check processing venture created by Unisys, Lloyds TSB Bank, Barclays and HSBC.

Sterling Names CEO

Bob Irwin was named president and CEO of AT&T subsidiary Sterling Commerce, a provider of business process solutions. Irwin had been acting president and CEO of the Columbus, Ohio-based company following the passing of former CEO Samuel Starr in late 2006.
