Provident Appoints EVP
Provident Bank (Montebello, N.Y.) appointed Richard Jones to the newly created role of executive vice president, business services. He will be responsible for the bank's retail, operations, IT, marketing and product management, trust and investments, small business lending and consumer loans, and mortgage underwriting and services areas.
BoNY's New Client Exec
The Bank of New York appointed Paul Traynor to the role of client executive in London. Traynor joins BoNY as managing director and client executive for U.K. investment managers from IBM Consulting.
SunTrust Names AML Head
SunTrust Banks (Atlanta) named James E. Sproull Jr. director of anti-money laundering compliance with oversight of all AML compliance activities throughout SunTrust. Sproull will retain his current responsibilities as a senior vice president and manager of corporate bank operations.
Freddie Mac Hires EVP
Freddie Mac (McLean, Va.) hired Joseph Smialowski as EVP of operations and technology. He will manage the company's mortgage origination and servicing, investment and capital markets operations, and IS divisions. Smialowski was previously EVP of Fleet Boston Financial.
