Key Buys Document Software

KeyCorp licenses Mobius ViewDirect from Mobius Management Systems.

Seeking a solution for the management, presentation and distribution of enterprise content, KeyCorp has licensed Mobius ViewDirect from Mobius Management Systems, a Rye, N.Y.-based software company.

The ViewDirect implementation will speed information delivery and improve customer service by providing Web-based access to enterprise documents, including check images, customer statements and various reports for Key's lines of business.

"Digitizing information storage, retrieval and delivery is a critical step in our strategic efforts to migrate from a paper-based to an electronic environment," according to Allyn J. Pytel, senior vice president of media output management for Key Banking Services.

In addition, said Pytel, the initiative will enable the $86 billion bank to enhance the customer experience, improve sales performance, streamline operational processes and leverage the Internet as a delivery channel.

From a strategic standpoint, paper, checks and microfiche have no inherent value-the value is in the data, said Pytel. "The ultimate benefit of storing data in a digital format is the flexibility it provides and the speed of information delivery."

"Once we are in a position to deliver information electronically to customers, we have overcome two major obstacles in information delivery-time and distance," he added.

The Mobius technology provides Cleveland-based Key with instant access to diverse documents and gives front-office operations a secure intranet/Internet channel for delivering information to customers. "We have done our homework and invested in a product that will not only meet our needs today but will also support our growth and new e-business initiatives well into the future," said Pytel.

The Mobius solution for Key includes ViewDirect, the content server of the Mobius software suite, which captures, indexes and stores documents, reports and images from multiple applications and sources; and DocumentDirect for the Internet, which provides browser-based access to integrated ViewDirect content. Once images are indexed and stored, ViewDirect's EnterpriseIndexing technology can create "virtual folders" of diverse documents associated with a customer, task or transaction.

The ViewDirect software, which is being installed at Key's corporate data center, will provide internal users with access to more than 7 million computer-generated pages of information and 5 million to 6 million check images per day. During the first phase of the project, Key will store computer-generated documents and reports in the ViewDirect content server, which will provide online access to customer statements. Later, check images will be added.

The initial benefit of the ViewDirect implementation will be the fast, efficient delivery of enterprise information to internal operating units at reduced cost, said Sandy Becker, senior vice president of marketing at Mobius. "ViewDirect will help Key improve operational productivity, reduce costs and provide first-class customer service. The software's flexibility and functionality will enable a broad range of applications, serving Key as a strategic platform for years to come."
