U.S. Bank Unveils Windows Phone Mobile Banking App

The Minneapolis-based bank said it has developed two apps for the phone -- one through U.S. Bank's Wealth Management division and the other through U.S. Bank Retail Payment Solutions.

U.S. Bank today became the latest bank to offer mobile banking apps for the Windows Phone.

The Minneapolis-based bank said it has developed two apps for the phone -- one through U.S. Bank's Wealth Management division and the other through U.S. Bank Retail Payment Solutions. The apps, featured in the Windows Phone Store, are free and provide consumers with access to market and economic insights, as well as access to an instant credit application for the U.S. Bank Cash+ Visa Signature Card.

The wealth management app allows customers to access market and economic insights from U.S. Bank Wealth Management, save and monitor a portfolio of stocks using interactive charting, and get real time stock quotes. The app also allows users to locate a U.S. Bank branch or ATM.

The U.S. Bank Cash+ Signature Visa Card app allows consumers to apply for a card and, if qualified, receive a secure, virtual card via their Windows Phone to begin making purchases immediately. U.S. Bank introduced the Cash+ Visa Signature Card in July.

Though obviously lagging in a market dominated by Apple and Android devices, the Windows Phone has attracted some interest from banks. Bank of America has been offering a Windows Phone-specific mobile baking app for over a year. And in September, JPMorgan Chase announced its own Windows Phone mobile banking app.
