Umpqua Bank Targets Unified Customer Experience Across Platforms
Further, Umpqua is planning to release its first tablet-specific banking app by 2014, and Sonnenstein felt the Q2ebanking platform was ideal for that. He says that Umpqua is putting a lot of time and focus on that rollout, and Sonnenstein believes the tablet interface will dominate consumer technology in the years to come.
"I firmly believe in the touch experience of the tablet," he notes. "I really do think that's the experience the customer wants to have. And that touch experience does really well [with banking apps], with things like spending controls."
The tablet app will be the first product to go live on the new platform, which Sonnenstein expects will begin to be rolled out by late 2013 going into 2014. That will be followed by mobile and online banking.
"I believe this is a platform and partner that will help us get complete ownership of the customer experience," he says.
