The iPad and the Future of Banking Innovation

Interesting news last week from BBVA, which announced it is launching a free iPad magazine focused on innovation in the financial services industry.

Innovation Edge, as the publication will be called, available in Spanish and English from the Apple App Store, as well as online and as a PDF - will focus on a specific area of innovation, beginning with gamification.

According to the bank, the content and editing of the magazine will be a collaborative effort between BBVA employees and outside experts. It's mission is to "share the knowledge generated by BBVA on emerging trends and innovative phenomena that are linked in various ways to the financial sector and the evolution of its business models."

This is the first I have heard of a bank creating a corporate magazine specifically for the tablet, although if there are other examples please alert me. It will be interesting to see how this venture does.
