First Data’s STARsf Network Adds Free ATMs

First Data's (Denver) STARsf network plans to add 5,600 surcharge-free ATMs, bringing its total surcharge-free ATM count to nearly 40,000.

The additional surcharge-free ATMs will be located at participating 7-Eleven stores in the U.S. They are available through an agreement between 7-Eleven Inc. of Dallas and Cardtronics of Houston. The agreement became effective September 1, 2008 for STARsf members.

STARsf joined forces with the Allpoint Network in August 2007. Since that time, nearly 10,000 surcharge-free ATMs have been added to the STARsf network.

"ATM access without having to pay a fee is more important than ever before as people look for ways to save money wherever they can," said Tony Emrick, general manager, STAR Network. "The continued growth of the Allpoint Network makes joining STARsf even more attractive to financial institutions so that they can provide more 'free' access to their customers," he added.
