Capital One Launches Android Mobile Banking Application
Aiming to give its customers more choices regarding how they access their account information, Capital One Financial Corp. (McLean, Va.) launched its Android mobile banking application last week. The new Android app joins Capital One's other digital channels: iPhone app, mobile website, SMS text, chat, Twitter and Facebook.
"The growth in mobile banking has been phenomenal," said Jack Forestell, EVP, Digital Strategy, Capital One, in a press release. "More and more, our customers are using their mobile devices to manage their accounts in a way that works best for them. By launching Android … we continue to expand our mobile offerings to our customers and are responding to their needs. Ultimately, we are meeting our customers in their channel of choice.
Through the Android app, Capital One customers can access their current balances, view credit card rewards, make a payment, view recent transactions, pay bills, and transfer funds between accounts. All mobile users can find a branch location and ATMs on all Capital One's mobile banking services--users can either use their current locations using their phones' GPS or can enter a ZIP code.
Capital One's Android app is available via the Android Market. To download, customers can visit the Android Market from their Smartphone or visit https://market.android.com from their browser, and then search for "Capital One" to find the app. Once the app has been downloaded, customers can click on the "Capital One" icon to access free, mobile banking.
Regarding Capital One's complete offering of online and mobile banking options, the institution also offers a mobile banking app for iPhone, which is available via the Apple iTunes Store on iPhone or iPod touch. The iPhone app has the same functionality of the Android app. For customers who prefer using their phone's web browser, they can access the bank's secure mobile website. Customers can also reach a Capital One customer service representative via the company's Twitter handle @AskCapitalOne.
