BBVA Releases Updated BlackBerry Mobile Banking App

BBVA Compass today announced the release of an updated mobile banking app for BlackBerry users.

The version 2.0 BlackBerry app is free and allows for direct enrollment into mobile banking from the app.

"BlackBerry users were some of our first mobile banking customers, and we want to continue to offer them the same mobile banking experience we provide to users of other devices.," said Alex Carriles, executive vice president and director of Mobile Strategy and Retail Innovation at BBVA Compass.

Regarding the BlackBerry platform, Carriles adds, "The technology industry changes so quickly, I am never willing to count someone out. There are simply too many changes happening to quickly to discount any provider.

According to Carriles, Black Berry users make up about 20 percent of the bank's mobile customer base.

The bank said the new BlackBerry app was designed to reflect customer feedback and incorporate more innovative technology. In addition to the direct enrollment function, the new version allows users to pay bills, view check images, transaction receipts and account pie charts, along with cash flow graphs of bill payments.
