Bank of America’s Peter Buchhop Honored For Mobile Banking Initiative

Buchhop proposed and designed a scalable Web-based architecture that enables delivery of m-banking capabilities to any mobile device.

Peter Buchhop, a senior technology manager in the network computing group at Bank of America (Charlotte, N.C.), was honored for his efforts in developing BofA's mobile banking initiative as one of the bank's first-ever Technology Fellows.

Buchhop proposed and designed a scalable Web-based architecture that enables delivery of m-banking capabilities to any mobile device. BofA has more than 700,000 active m-banking users, which leads the U.S. market. Critical to this success is an end-to-end security feature -- also developed by Buchhop and his team -- that encrypts information sent between the mobile device and the bank.

"There are many of us across the company who work hard to use technology to improve the banking experience for our customers, associates and shareholders," says Buchhop. Also recognized were William Fesq, a senior architecture manager in capital markets and wholesale banking technology and operations; Tim Guerry, an architecture executive in consumer and corporate staff technology ; and Tony Flora, a technology business executive in the network computing group.

BofA says the Technology Fellows program honors individuals whose "career accomplishments in technology have helped drive business growth." The program adopts technology best practices and is aimed at recruiting and retaining top individuals, the bank adds.
