Bangkok Bank Unveils Mobile Banking Solution
Bangkok Bank has launched a secure, browser-based mobile Internet banking service that allows users to view account information, pay bills and transfer funds from their mobile devices, according to a press release.
The bank selected Brookfield, Wis.-based Fiserv's Mobile Money service to support its mobile banking capabilities. Mobile Money is powered by technology from Atlanta-based M-Com. The solution has the ability to support consumer banking via SMS text message, wireless application protocol (WAP) and downloadable mobile applications.
Using the Fiserv solution, Bangkok Bank customers can access Bualuang iBanking, the company's Internet banking platform, securely on their mobile phone. The service is available in both English and Thai languages.
According to a Fiserv press release, Thailand's mobile penetration rate is greater than 80 percent, making it among the highest in the Asia Pacific region. "Customers in Asia are at least as demanding as their counterparts in Europe and the U.S. -- they need the portable banking tool to complement their busy, highly mobile lifestyle," Bangkok Bank executive vice president Karen Campbell said in the release.
