3Rivers Federal Credit Union Rolls Out Mobile Photo Bill Pay
Fort Wayne-based 3Rivers Federal Credit Union ($750 million in assets) has become the first credit union to roll out Picture Pay, a mobile photo bill pay solution from Malauzai Software Inc and Allied Payment Network.
The solution will allow 3Rivers customers to pay bills by taking a picture of the bill with their smartphone. Once a member takes a picture of a bill with their smartphone, they then enter the amount and payment date and the bill is paid. The credit union is offering Picture Pay as a separate mobile application in addition to its existing mobile banking app. Currently, around 17 percent of 3Rivers’ active checking account users utilize its mobile platforms, the credit union said.
Mobile photo bill pay is a growing trend in the industry. Earlier this year, several financial institutions, including U.S. Bank, BBVA Compass and City Bank Texas announced they were rolling out Mitek Systems' mobile photo bill pay solution.
“Mobile adoption continues to dramatically increase among our members, and the addition of mobile bill pay fills a void in our mobile platform that members have been requesting for quite some time,” said Melissa Shaw, marketing communication manager for 3Rivers in a statement. “The addition of Picture Pay enables us to fulfill our members’ need for a simple mobile bill pay solution, as well as increase mobile adoption and member satisfaction.”
