Fifth Third Bank (Cincinnati) added Bottomline's (Portsmouth, N.H.) WebSeries Distributed Document Printing software to the bank's payments platform to improve the efficiency of check creation, provide on-demand print capabilities for money orders and cashier checks, and integrate branch sales with fraud detection systems.

KeyBank (Cleveland) renewed a multiyear deal with Atlanta-based CheckFree for the vendor's secure electronic billpay technology.

** Mellon Buys ClearTran

Mellon Financial (Pittsburgh) purchased electronic and online payments processor ClearTran (Parsippany, N.J.) to provide Mellon's corporate clients with a payment alternative for their customers.

Philippine National Bank (Manila) selected Palo Alto, Calif.-based HP to help transition the bank's mainframe infrastructure to a standard, open-system architecture based on HP Integrity Superdome servers.
