Bankers' Association for Trade and Finance (BAFT) announces new members; The North American Clearing House Association (NACHA) unveils electronic payments white paper; The Strategic Research Institute to hold voice-activated Web content event in Boston.

The Bankers' Association for Finance and Trade (BAFT) announced that 12 new companies have joined its ranks.

These new companies are: GE Capital, AMS, State Street Corporation, i-flex, UBS, Development Finance Inc., Midas-Kapiti International, Compass Bank, Sterling Bank, Proponix, DVI and SE Bank.

The organization has also moved its offices. The new location is: 1717 Pennsylvania Ave., NW, Suite 450, Washington, DC.

The North American Clearing House Association's (NACHA) council on Electronic Billing and Payment has published a white paper outlining the pros and cons of various business-to-business electronic payment methods.

The paper, authored by the council's Business-to-Business Task Force, develops a framework that businesses can use to evaluate the comparative benefits of specific electronic payment mechanisms.

"The purpose of the white paper is a to provide an objective, educational tool on business-to-business electronic payments," said Peter Lambert, chairman of the B2B task Force and vice president of Wachovia Bank. "The focus is on key issues that drive the selection of an appropriate payment tool."

The Strategic Research Institute, New York, will hold a conference on Voice-Activated Web Content at the Doubletree Guest Suites in Boston from September 19 to 21.

The three-day even will consist of pre-conference workshops and two full days of sessions. Some of the topics that will be discussed include Designing Compelling Voice Web Applications and Using Voice XML to Voice-Enable the Web.
