Visa Global Development Head Joins Green Dot

Green Dot Corporation (Monrovia, Calif.), a prepaid financial services company, announced Monday it has hired John MacIlwaine as chief information officer. MacIlwaine previously served as Visa's head of global development, where he was responsible for developing new products and services for it's commercial and consumer product divisions.

Green Dot said that MacIlwaine will orchestrate the design and implementation of the company's overall technology strategy.

"We are very excited to add someone of John's talent and caliber to the Green Dot team," said Will Sowell, Chief Operating Officer at Green Dot in a statement. "John brings to Green Dot a profound expertise in technology innovation within dynamic high-growth environments. John's particular expertise in developing secure enterprise level mobile and web-based payment platforms and transaction processing systems will ensure Green Dot's voracious appetite for new technology is well satisfied into the future."
