Chase Enhances QuickPay Person-To-Person Payments

The New York-based bank adds recurring payments and text messaging to its online P2P payments service.

Recurring transfers and text messaging are among the changes going into effect May 15 for JP Morgan Chase Bank's QuickPay person-to-person online payments feature.

In a message to customers enrolled in the service Monday, New York-based Chase highlighted three changes to the QuickPay service agreement.

  • Prohibited payments: Customers enrolled in the service cannot use it to send or receive money illegally, or to anyone they "are obligated for tax payments, payments related to court orders, fines, payments to loan sharks, gambling debts."
  • Repeating transfers: Customers will be able to make repeating transfers, defined by the bank as automatic recurring payments or transfers made to the same Pay To account for a consistent amount.
  • Mobile text messaging: Chase says customers will now be able to receive text messages through its QuickPay product. More details on this will be available when the new service agreement is available May 15.
  • The QuickPay service is available to Chase online banking customers.
