BofA to Hire George Sherman As CTO, Global Banking and Markets

Bank of America announced today that George Sherman has been named chief technology officer for the company's global banking and markets and global commercial banking businesses. He will be responsible for strategy, architecture, design and build, operations, product management and project delivery of the technology infrastructure that supports that business.

Sherman will join the bank in September and report to the bank's overall CTO Marc Gordon. Gordon said Sherman's role builds on the bank's efforts to strengthen technology's alignment with its lines of business to serve customers and clients. Sherman will be based in New York.

Sherman joins Bank of America from Morgan Stanley, where he was managing director, chief technology officer of the Americas enterprise infrastructure organization, acting as the single point of accountability for the delivery of technology infrastructure in the Americas. Sherman also served as the global head of enterprise telecommunications, entitlements solutions and technology business development teams, responsible for data centers, servers and hosting, desktop support and enterprise applications.

During his more than 10-year career at Morgan Stanley, Sherman held additional roles, including chief IT risk and security officer and IT chief operating officer. Before joining Morgan Stanley, he spent seven years at Chase Bank, where he managed several technology engineering, application development and operations organizations.
