Devon Bank Equips "Green" Branch with Imaging

Imaging-assisted app for tellers said to reduce processing and courier costs.

Devon Bank, Chicago, has decided to use Integrated Image Teller imaging software from IBT to support its green banking efforts. The bank, which serves customers residing in Chicago and its suburbs, is shifting from an electronic branch item capture process to having tellers perform this work. The IBT software automates typical teller tasks, such as depositing checks, with the assistance of imaging.

"Our newest facility is a green branch and Integrated Image Teller fits directly in line with the purpose of that location because it will help eliminate unnecessary paper," said Dan Loundy, vice president at Devon Bank, in a statement. "For the past 20 years we have been a customer of MICR Resource Management, which was acquired by IBT earlier this year, and now we look forward to expanding our partnership by deploying this innovative technology."

Integrated Image Teller replaces internal documents with "virtual tickets" and automatically encodes items. The solution allows for the elimination of courier costs while reducing data processing fees.

A separate proofing department will not be required because proofing will take place at the teller line and the images are immediately available to everyone at the bank. The new technology also may help customers detect fraud earlier because the images from their transactions can be made available to them sooner.
