Mint.com Rolls Out App for Android Users

Offering lets consumers track spending, view account balances over Android mobile phones.

Mint.com, a personal financial management site with three million users, today launched an application mobile phones that use Google's Linux-based phone Android operating system. According to Google, 60,000 such phones ship every day.

As Bank Systems & Technology noted in a recent report, personal financial management sites such as Mint, Geezeo and Yodlee have grown extremely popular as Americans seek new ways of doing away with debt and managing their finances.

The new application, available for download from the Android Market, lets Mint.com users access a snapshot of their financial picture and manage their finances over their phone.

Mint.com already offers an iPhone app and mobile messaging. The Android application is said to offer a search function for finding recent transactions via cell phone, a Mint.com widget that provides a snapshot of overall cash flow in real-time, and a Live folders feature that lets users view financial updates on the phone's home screen without launching the Mint.com application.

Users will also have access to the features in Mint.com's iPhone application, such as the ability to view real-time account balances, check recent transactions; compare spending against monthly budgets, and edit transaction details.

The Mint.com application is available for Android OS versions 1.5, 1.6 and 2.0.
