Huntington Selects Jeff Dennes to Lead Online and Mobile Services

Ohio regional bank plucked one of Bank Systems & Technology's 2010 Elite 8 honorees from USAA.

Jeff Dennes, the former USAA executive chosen as one of Bank Systems & Technology's Elite 8 this year for his leadership in mobile banking, has joined $52 billion Huntington Bancshares, Columbus, Ohio, as senior vice president, director of online and mobile Services. With nearly 20 years of experience in online and mobile services innovation, Dennes will lead Huntington's efforts to expand its online banking platform with an increased focus on mobile and iTouch banking.

"At Huntington, our number one priority is creating the best experience for our customers. Increasingly, customers are looking for better online and mobile solutions and more convenience," said Mary Navarro, senior executive vice president, retail and business banking director. "Jeff's vision and innovation, along with his extensive background and proven track record, will give Huntington customers access to leading-edge online and mobile solutions."

Prior to joining Huntington, Dennes managed online and mobile banking and payment services at USAA Federal Savings Bank. Dennes led the development and implementation of a ground-breaking remote deposit capture feature that allows banking customers to take a photo of a check and make a deposit using their mobile device.

Dennes' background also includes experience in integrated banking, investments and insurance self-service strategies and solutions. He earned his bachelor's degree in Management from Texas State University in San Marcus, Tex. He now resides in Columbus with his family.

"I am very impressed with Huntington and the bank's continued investment in delivering best-in-class service to its customers," said Dennes. "I look forward to developing customer-friendly applications for Apple and Android, as well as for the iPad and other touch screen devices. My goal is to make Huntington's online channels the most utilized by our customers for both service and acquisition."

Huntington has been aggressively poaching technology talent from other banks. The bank recently hired David Hawkins, branch innovation expert, from Umpqua Bank. Hawkins is now senior vice president and director customer experience at Huntington.
