94% of Professionals Likely to Use Mobile Payments, Survey Finds

In a survey of 1,000 professionals across 67 countries, conducted by Netsize, more than half said they would be willing to use mobile payments for purchases of more than $100.

In a survey of 1,000 professionals around the world that Netsize (a subsidiary of smart card maker Gemalto) released today, 94% said they were "very likely" or "somewhat likely" to purchase goods totaling up to $31.50 (25 Euros) using their mobile phones.

And for slightly larger-ticket items, 83% said they would be open to pay for items such as concert tickets, valued at amounts up to $63.50 (50 Euros) with their mobile phones. More than half (51 percent) of respondents reported they would be likely to purchase physical goods for amounts up to $127 with their mobile phones. This figure confirms the huge growth potential for mobile commerce and increased interest in new ways to shop and buy.

Most respondents (60%) reported that payment choice is important to them. When asked what improvements need to be made in mobile commerce, surveyees wrote in requests for expressed the desire for each of use, security, regulation and standards.
